Located in the rural community of Ashburton (otherwise known as Mid Canterbury) in New Zealand’s South Island, you will find Boondocks Clothing Co Ltd which was established by Margaret Prattley.
Margaret has spent years in the clothing industry, from training as a tailoress to a production line machinist, leading onto a supervisor’s position where a training scheme for apprentices was introduced developing skills for young girls in all aspects of sewing equipping them for future employment.
A few years teaching in the polytechnic and college of tailoring and design came to a close with the development of the Boondocks label.
From small beginnings in an upstairs room of one cutter, a freelance pattern maker and one out worker have seen Boondocks move from doing several country Agricultural and Pastoral shows to their own shop and factory in Ashburton.
Boondocks Clothing is about quality, not only in the way the garments are manufactured, but in the fabrics chosen from New Zealand mills and reputable mills used from around the world.
Boondocks label is manufactured by a skilled team providing quality garments for rural and urban women with comfort durability and the added bonus of mixing and matching your wardrobe. A comprehensives range of sizes are available with the vision of a growing range of clothing to suit the many personalities of our customers along with natural curves of ones body that in today’s climate needs to be appreciated and accepted for what we are.
